How is SSML tagging done?
SSML tagging is relative easy, once you understand what the tags and attributes do and how to apply them to text. Below is an image of our SSML editor. To learn more about SSML tags, their attributes, their values, and how to use them, download the Amazon SSML Tags document for more information. To download, click on PDF below the Amazon SSML Tags title in the document.
Now click on each tag title in the Amazon SSML Tags document. This hyperlinks you to the tag name, what the tag code looks like, and provides definitions, as well as the attributes for the tag (if available). Click on <say-as) in the list. It provides a good example of the tag, its attribute, and what each attribute value does.
The corresponding tags are shown in the SSML Editor image below. They are applied in one of two ways.
- Highlight a word or group of words and apply the tag. If attributes are available, they will display in the tag popup menu, and you will click on the desired attribute.
- Click where commas, periods, or other locations require a pause.
